What would you name the autobiography of your life?

In the end, not that much matters.

Elgar – The Enigma Variations, The Beatles and Hazel O’Conner’s “Will You”.

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?

Play the saxophone.

If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do?

Buy my wife a Jaguar car.

When you have 30 minutes of free time, how do you pass the time?

Reading.

If you could be any fictional character, who would you choose?

Horatio Hornblower.

What was the last experience that made you a stronger person?

Buying a rowing machine.

What is your favourite indoor/outdoor activity?

Reading/Golf.

What chore do you absolutely hate doing?

Cooking.

If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet?

Henry XIII.

Have you ever had something happen to you that you thought was bad, but it turned out to be for the best?

Meeting my wife for the first time.

At what age did you become an adult?

17.

What three traits define you?

Principled Humour.

Ten years ago, who did you think you would be now?

Probably an older Ken Seddon.

What is the coolest (or most important) trend you see today?

The slow, inevitable acceptance of racial integration.

What would you do (for a career) if you were not doing this?

Criminal Barrister.

What would you most like to tell yourself at age 13?

Become a Barrister.

How do you define success?

Health, somewhere to live with the ones you love, and just enough money to afford a drink.

What is the one thing you could not live without?

Oxygen.

What is your greatest fear?

That GOD might put in an appearance, and make me look a proper fool.

Where is your favourite place to be?

Home.

Who is your biggest inspiration?

I don’t get inspired as such by individuals, but I do have a number of people I have admired along the way. Gandhi would be one, Nelson Mandela another.

Tell us something that might surprise us about you?

Through my teens and twenties, I was obsessed with everything about the period leading up to and including the First World War, – to the extent that my wife arranged our wedding to take place at 11 am on the 11th November.

What is the last movie you watched?

The Gentleman.

What is your favourite food or meal?

Anything I don’t have to cook for myself.

What is your favourite sports team?

Manchester United.

What was the best concert you ever attended?

Ken Dodd at the Manchester Palladium. He went over by an hour and when everyone left the theatre the car park had been locked.

What are three things on your bucket list?

Tour the USA.

My Motto for life is?

95% of the things you worry about never eventuate and of the things that do, nothing much matters at the end of the day.
