NSW Government Introduces $5m Grant Scheme to PPE Manufacturing

This week, the NSW Government has announced a $5 million grants scheme to locally manufacture critical Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and create jobs.

Deputy Premier John Barilaro on Monday launched the program to support domestic manufacturing of PPE in NSW by providing grants to local companies to help fund equipment, raw materials and recruitment of skilled staff.

“The scheme is part of the NSW Government’s commitment to ramping up domestic manufacturing in NSW, developing regular supply and creating vital jobs to meet the long-haul challenge of COVID-19,” Mr Barilaro said.

“In NSW and across Australia we should never have insufficient access to PPE and this funding will go towards maintaining the critical supply of equipment to our frontline health workers and communities.

As domestic capacity increases, we encourage NSW businesses to buy local and support our manufacturing sector.

It has been incredible to see so many companies answering the call to help. This new package is the latest step in our efforts to create jobs and high-quality protective equipment for the people of NSW”

The program includes a $5 million grants scheme to establish a reliable, domestic supply of PPE products that have been critical in the response to COVID-19 including masks, gowns, disinfectant, handwash, and soap or their components.

The grant scheme is seeking to deliver assistance to manufacturers or businesses that:

  • Currently manufacture and can increase production or
  • Are looking to “retool” and pivot their existing manufacturing lines to produce specified PPE products. This can also include the materials used to make those specified PPE products
  • Support job creation and retention across NSW

At Packserv Australia we are here to assist and support all NSW manufacturers intent on increasing production or pivoting their existing manufacturing lines towards the manufacture of hand sanitiser, disinfectant, handwash and soap.

Our packaging machines can handle a variety of container and cap types

At Packserv we have a suite of packaging equipment available specifically for these types of PPE products. The specific packaging equipment which includes fillers, cappers, labellers, conveyors and sealers can be turned into a fully automated line to suit your needs.

All packaging equipment in our fleet is available to rent in a short term or long-term capacity. This latest grant scheme from NSW Government serves as a perfect opportunity for manufacturers to accelerate the set-up of their new or improved PPE production line.
